Caitlin Clark is shaking up the WNBA in a way few expected, yet no one should be surprised. Like a lightning rod in a thunderstorm, she attracts both admiration and animosity in equal measure. That’s the paradox of success, isn’t it? You elevate, you innovate, and suddenly, the pitchforks come out.

It’s not the men rolling their eyes at the WNBA; it’s the women. The sisterhood we imagine — an idealistic band of supportive feminists championing each other’s triumphs — can be as mythical as the unicorn.

Women can be just as ruthless; in Clark’s case, they are turning their claws on her with venomous precision. This was bound to happen, of course. The sport needed a savior, but as the narrative goes, they hate you the moment you start saving them.

In the short span of her career, Clark has already accomplished what marketing campaigns and “girl power” slogans never could — she’s made people care. She’s rattled the WNBA hierarchy, cut through the noise, and made headlines for all the right reasons. But with that level of disruption comes a tidal wave of resentment.

Her every move is analyzed, her every word scrutinized, as if the weight of an entire league rests on…
