Perhaps religion, and maybe more specifically Christianity, isn't the scourge of the world, but it sure has harmed the western half. The mere fact that an estimated 60-70 million aborigines from the tip of Alaska to the end of Argentina have been eradicated simply for not believing in Christ is a testament to the evils of the pervasive European mythology. I'm no atheist. But I can't turn a blind eye to the anti-human message in the Bible. The entire Old Testament reads like a gossip column of a Nazi-inspired God and his terrible minions. And these stories have been used to justify the horrible acts committed in this hemisphere. You say religion hasn't affected western thought since the French revolution. Six months ago, religion was used as the catalyst of the whole Roe v. Wade. Herein is a perfect example of religion still scolding the world for being enlightened.
