On a typical day, the world can feel like a giant game of charades; a series of moments entwined in a dance of human interaction, teetering on the edge of misinterpretation. Such was the case for a man who laughed off an encounter, thinking it was a prank, only to realize later that he may have made a mistake.

We’ve all been there, standing at the precipice of misunderstanding, laughing when we probably shouldn’t. There’s a tangible sense of mortification when we realize the err of our ways. For our protagonist, the prospect of amending this situation can seem daunting, even impossible. But here’s a revelation: It’s not. To mend is human, to forgive, divine, as the old saying goes.

Our protagonist felt fooled; he thought the girl’s approach was a jest. Reflect on that. Admit that you were caught off guard, perhaps, by your own insecurities.
