The Art of Letting Go in Relationships

In our relationships, letting go is a skill that is frequently overlooked. Letting go can be one of the most challenging things to do, whether in a toxic relationship, a strained friendship, or a romantic relationship that didn’t work out. However, it is also one of the most important steps toward recovery and advancement.

Even though they were aware of the harm these relationships were causing them, 43% of respondents to a recent survey stated that it was difficult for them to let go of negative relationships. This is due to the fact that letting go is not just saying goodbye to someone; it requires us to emancipate ourselves from that relationship’s hopes, feelings, and memories.

And this isn’t easy to do because our attachment to the past conjures various emotional connections, such as shared recollections or a strong bond with the person, even though we are aware of the harm the relationship may be causing.

Truthfully, it is hard to let go at other times because a part of the relationship is sometimes tied to our identity. And losing the connection means losing a cherished collection of hopes, dreams, and expectations; and replacing them with various feelings, including sadness, disappointment, and…
