Why Do Christians Still Stand With Trump?

The debate win doesn’t explain the loyalty.

The presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump unfolded as expected, in a spectacle of verbal combat. Commentators across the board handed the victory to Harris. Her delivery was sharp, her answers incisive, and her poise undeniable.

Yet, despite her performance, a lingering paradox hangs over the political landscape like a storm cloud refusing to dissipate: Trump still holds considerable sway among Protestant and Catholic voters.

The question gnawing at the fabric of this political reality is not whether Trump wins debates in the conventional sense, but why so many Christians rally to him. Why, in the face of every moral misstep, do millions of believers — guided ostensibly by the principles of compassion and grace — continue to offer their unwavering support?

It is a phenomenon that defies easy explanation. Trump, whose brash persona seems at odds with Christian teachings, commands a religious following with an almost cult-like devotion.
